Have You Seen Queen Anne's Lace?

By Kendra Allen, MBT Ambassador

As you’re riding or walking down the trail, have you noticed the white flowers that mingle with the grass, especially by the community garden? Well these flowers are called Queen Anne’s Lace and they have an interesting story to go with their name. The story goes that it was named after Queen Anne of England, who was an expert lace maker. Although she was no amateur with the needle, one day she pricked her finger and a single drop of blood fell into the lace. This is where the dark purple floret in the center of the flower comes from. Next time you’re on the trail why don’t you try to find the drop of blood!
